flock around and find out!

We have honed our skills grazing in Colorado, California and Oregon wine country and range lands. Between harvest and bud break, we primarily focus our efforts on vineyard grazing. The industry is finding that the incorporation of grazing into vineyard management practice can be an ideal solution in transitioning to no-till, organic, regenerative, Biodynamic and more forward-thinking and ecologically-focused vineyard management practices. The ecological benefits are considerable, but the animals are great for team morale, public relations and increased tasting room traffic. There is research and anecdotal evidence supporting the benefits of grazing under vine.

Our scope of work also includes remedial conservation grazing for wetlands, riparian areas and oak savannas, noxious weed and fire fuel mitigation, solar arrays and public spaces. Please contact us or more information on these types of projects.

Our team is comprised of hard-working nerds with a broad knowledge base in agriculture and ecology.

We prefer to use heritage breeds of livestock for the bulk of our targeted grazing efforts. Pre-industrial livestock, they are hardier and thrive on fewer pharmaceutical and supplemental inputs. This makes them ideal for working in more rigorous conditions, and still our ewes are able to wean chonky lambs and shear off a quality clip. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure; so we manage the health of our livestock through our grazing system.

Our livestock don’t require the inputs to survive like their industrialized counterparts.

This makes us more confident in the quality of meats and fibers we produce.

The older strains of Horned Dorsets and Shetlands are the backbone of our breeding programs and direct to consumer lamb, hogget and mutton production.
